of initial timing and your post says "roughly" 12 initial and 32-36* Total ???? how come theirs a huge gap between the book and your post?
3 how much vacuum should the sbc have at idle idk if this car has a cam in it or not doesnt sound it but not 100% sure
4 harmonic balancer should i just get a new one to time it or geustamate measuring in ?

I run an MSD with a 6aln box. The dist I linked had the integral coil large cap, adjustable vacumn advance. The MSD has a separate coil, needs vacuum can changed to tune. I like the MSD stuff. Didn't know it budget was a concern.
I had the MSD you talked about and it lasted a day thats my luck i put the factory one back in and recurved it and put abetter module to match the super coil and it runs great

I don't understand either of these observations if they were made regarding the Street Fire. The Street Fire has an integral coil, and an adjustable vacuum advance out of the box. It also has a vacuum advance stop plate (very handy) and the tuning kit is cheap.
@-63maco what is the vacuum can you are talking about what is a good one will it hurt running it with any dist?
the street fire dist. i have been looking at it befor looked to good to be true because of a HEI MSD for less then 150 that doesnt need coil and 6aln seems like a really good deal.

I can only speak for my experience; I've used a dozen or so of these and they've each been perfect.
My responSe was directed at the OPs response to my link asking about how the dist I linked compared to a MSD 8360. It had absolutely nothing to do with your post. As I said I like MSD products and have had real good luck with them.
No vacuum can needed - just attach it to any non-ported vacuum source. It comes with instructions on tuning the vacuum advance, and there's a great sticky linked below. You can also email Lars for his outstanding paper on tuning vacuum advance at mailto:V8FastCars@msn.com. Don't search the net for those papers; email Lars for the latest one.
