Default 78 L48 heat riser

I have an exhaust leak at the gasket between the manifold and the heat riser, while I have it apart I would like to eliminate the heat riser. What can I put in there to take up the space?

A couple vette part vendors sell "spacers" to take the heat riser's place. Another option is to gut the valve out of it and weld the pivot holes closed, cheaper put if you have to ever put it back in more expensive later on.

Good Luck

Thanks Scott. Welding the pivot holes sounds like a good idea. I talked to Corvette Central and they don't have a spacer for anything after 74
