Does anyone know what the GM part number is for the lower speedometer cable for a '75? I've looked in catalogs, but the cable length seems to be 5' or more, which is way more than I need. Are these one-piece cables to use in place of a two-piece?
Some of the original cable is missing and I don't know exactly how long it is, but the upper cable is about two feet away from the connector on the 700R4. Both of the ends of this cable are "large", unlike the ends of a tachometer cable (I found out the hard way), one male, the other female.
Re: Lower Speedo Cable AC/Delco part number? (fwayne)
I am just looking in a parts book and it shows 1 piece cable used from 68-82 and 2 piece cables used from 68-76 but it doesn't tell me what criteria decided which cable was used on what cars.
From 77-82 it looks like they used 1 piece for cars w/o cruise and 2 piece for cars with cruise.
This all pertains to cars with automatics. I didn't look at cars with manual trans.

The two-piece I'm talking about is upper/lower. The two-piece that was used with cruise control is a combination speedo cable and electrical cable - I think. It seems to me that you can have a speedo cable that runs from the speedometer to the transmission with no connections in between, or you can have one cable from the speedometer to (about) the flywheel, presumably with two female connectors of different size, and a second cable from the end of the first to the male connector on the transmission speedometer driven gear sleeve.

You are correct. Prior to 77 cruise was not available on Corvettes but some still had 2 piece cables.
