I put them right in front of the trailing arms in the rear and on the front right where the frame curves in towards the engine.
It will not hurt the frame to leave it like that for an extended time unless the frame is compromised by rust.

The owner's manual shows the correct jacking points. You can use those for jack stand placement. If memory serves, the points are also on the jacking instructions on the storage compartment door.
