I am helping a friend replace the calipers on his '78. What is the best to use, ones with a lip seal or an o-ring. Also, anyone have any recommendations on what supplier's calipers are the best? Thanks for letting me intrude on the C3 section. My old junky C1 has the drum brakes, and I know a little more about them.

The o ring ones are an upgrade im not sure who makes the best but the lip seal ones are a pain in the butt they suck air in and leak fluid
If the car gets regular use, then the lip seal calipers will work just fine. For cars that spend most of their life under a cover in a garage, the o-ring calipers are the better choice.
Lonestar Calipers are probably the leader in the caliper business. They provide calipers to most of the Corvette vendors, as well as a lot of the regular auto parts stores.
Muskegon Brakes have been a Forum Supporting Vendor, and have a good reputation too.
You may want to try to find calipers locally. At 52 pounds a set, the freight on a set of calipers, can get pretty expensive, and if you want your core charge back, you have the return freight on the set too. The current core charge is running around $75 a caliper, so it pays to turn them back in.
