Default Which speedometer cable to use - 78

My cruise control transducer is FUBAR. I bought a 1-piece cable from NAPA, supposedly for a 78 w/o cruise. The cable is 5 feet long, which looks to be a few feet too short. Anyone else run into this?

5 Feet long sounds about right for my 79 w/o cruise. I have a manual transmission though. I'm not sure if the connection to the transmission is the same between the auto and manual.

Are you going to bypass the cruise control? If so, I would think that cable would work.

Where is the cruise control tansducer? I removed all my cruise control stuff from the engine compartment, including that little box near the wiper fluid reservoir. Since then, my speedometer reads like 100 when I'm doin 50, I'm thinking removing all the cruise stuff had something to do with it. So I think I'm gonna need to bypass the transducer as well. Where the heck is it located?

For 1978

For all automatics w/o cruise - 1550mm (61")
For L-48 manual w/o cruise - 1550mm (61")
For L-82 manual w/o cruise - 1800mm (70.87")

Cars with cruise control have a two - piece speedometer cable. Where the two sections of cable meet is at the transducer. It is located on the driver's side on/near the inner fender skirt - near the washer fluid reservoir.
