cam tip
recently i observed an "experienced" mechanic installing a cam in a small block ford (makes no difference) . he took the new cam out of the box and plastic bag which wasn't close to clean in appearance and smeared it with grease not assembly or moly lube, yes it was a hydraulic flat tappet cam. i asked if he shouldn't clean the cam first , i was told its cleaned from the factory. well what the heck do i know. heres my point clean every part that goes in a engine and when you think its clean do it again!stupid people like this more than likely have done much to damage flat tappet cams . as a friend of mine told this guy " that guy was installing cams before your mother got her menstural cycle , id listen to him." lol
