Default Steering question

Does anybody know if the ball stud for the manual drag link and the ball stud for the power steering control valve are the same and if not what the difference is? I'm referring to the one that attaches to the pitman arm.

Sounds like you've got something in mind - just what is it you're trying to do?

Ok, here it is, I'll be changing to a jeep steering box, I've got a used one coming in the mail, I already got the chevelle pitman arm from Speedway Motors. I got a used manual drag link. The car presently has the original power steering. First, I just tried the new pitman arm on the ball stud for the manual drag link and found, as others have, that the tapered part of the stud is slightly too small and lets the stud go too far into the taper, the ball on that one also is showing a little wear. My thought and hope is that the ball stud from my power steering control valve will have a slightly larger taper and have the same size ball, then I could use it in the manual draglink and have it fit the Chevelle pitman arm correctly.

I'm using a Jeep box, not the Borgeson. The Borgeson has been modified to accept the original pitman arm and also bolt up to the frame. The Jeep box that I have is what they start with and then modify it. The 73-77 Chevelle pitman arm is basicly the same configuration as the Vette, but it will fit the unmodified Jeep box.

Ahhhhh... ok..
I know the Borgeson was a modified "Jeep" box... I thought the modification was only to fit the frame... good info.

I had a guy make a spacer for the drag link. It works great! Saved a ton of cash and it was fun not buying a kit!
