Default A/C delete 1977

i am looking to remove the A/C evporator core and box from my vette. i already removed the compressor and condenser. i cannot see all the bolts that hold the box onto the firewall. does the front clip have to come off the car to remove it? also what all has to be changed to make my car appear it never was equipted with A/C. i know getting a heater only air box and the controls on the center console. i am really looking to improve on the space in the engine bay and put the car on a diet!

You'll have to remove the right lower dash pad and remove the nuts from the inside of the car.

Dont let the inner work scare you. Removing the AC box will free up what appears to be MILES of space in your engine compartment. I gutted mine and never looked back. Pulled all the ducting too.

After I removed mine, I glassed the area smaller for a heater box a friend gave me from his 69. Ducting went also, really want to make the car as simple as possible.

I removed all the AC stuff from my 77. There was one bolt to be removed from inside the car and it can be reached by pulling the rug down. I covered the evaporator housing opening with a cover from ACdelete.com. Pricey but effective. The original heater core works with this cover and it will accept the stock fan. I don't use my heater here in Jersey and its fine for temps in the 40s, with the sun shining.

I went the ACdelete.com route as well. You can keep your existing heater core. Using a 2in hole saw you can relocate the fan resistor as shown.

all kinds of room now

It is not a plug and play solution but its pretty close. You may have to take a Dremmel to it on the side that touches the fender and I used some black caulk to seal it. It works for me. I like the cleaner look.

There is a removable panel (horizontal) just behind the front wheel below the evap housing. Take that off and reach up.
