Another cam advice thread....
Seeking suggestions not a flame war...
78 vette, L82 stock bottom end.
AFR 195 heads 64 cc. (10.2:1 ?)
Performer intake w QJ.
Shorty headers with dual exhaust w/ dual cats.
Auto (5 speed upgrade in the future)
Needs to pass the DEQ sniffer...
Want to swap in a Roller cam.
Considering this one from Comp Cams:
XR 276 HR
224/230 @ .050
.502/.510 lift
110 degree lobe sep
Id go 282 or Solid roller if I thought i could pass emissions.

It might be difficult to pass emissions with that cam. A better choice would be similar duration but on 112 deg lobe separation.

Collecting parts for a roller cam swap.Got the retro lifters and a Crane Cam 119821,billet core with iron gear.Went with a conservative cam for my street cruiser.Watch what you buy not all cams are created equal.Ask if there cams are billet and you want a pressed on distributor iron gear to avoid future problems. You'll also need a different fuel pump pushrod.I'm going with the Howard's Cam polymer pushrod...Good luck...

basically same setup as yours, L82 bottom, dart heads, qjet, duals, 2k stall,
cam , fairly smooth idle, but you do notice it, good vacuum and low end power. But, i dont have to pass anything as far as inspec.

I've been advised to subtract about 16 degrees from a flat tappet specs. to get to a comparable roller cam (don't know what you have currently). Some of the suggestions may be aiming too high for a street/emissions car.
