Okay, this is a case of while I'm in there but since I'm taking the engine out....
I currently have a TH-400. Don't like it. I know of a shop with an extra T-10 and Super T-10 they are looking unload. Are they relatively easy to install on a C3?
I understand with the exception of cutting a notch in the trans. crossmember the ROD 6 is virtually a drop in but I certainly can't afford a ROD right now.
Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (Cookwithvette)
The Super T10 is a good transmission and I'm pretty sure it was used in the later C3's(after 74?). Find out the ratios...there were several different ones available.
I removed the M20 Muncie from my 71 and put in a wide ratio Super T10. Everything bolted up the same except for the reverse light switch bracket. I ended up fabricating one. Driveshaft length was the same, and it should be about the same as the TH400. In fact, the front yoke of your driveshaft should work on the Super T10. You'll need the pedals, bell crank etc. to do the conversion.
Good luck.

Yeah I think so too, after the Muncie's vettes used BW T10's and they were pretty good as far as I know.
Cookwithvette why don't you try to look for one ROD on ebay I've seen one there about 6 mo ago for about $1500. You may get lucky and find anotherone.

Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (Cookwithvette)
I am probably going to put a t-5 tranny out of late 80's early 90's camaro in mine when i out my stroker back in. I would check to see if you can get one of these since it has o/d and why swap tranny's again when you can do it once. Search the archives, Norval has posted a lot of good info in responce to members like myself who are interested in an o/d tranny's that won't break your piggy bank. The swap is just as easy as the t10.
I just swapped one out of a 74 into my 69. I went from close ratio to wide ratio. First gear is interesting now :D . The swap was straight up. Thanks to forum member BobTurner.....I bought the trans without knowing the true condition, and it turned out to be just as he described. Works perfectly.
Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (Cookwithvette)
The Super T-10 is a straight swap for the Muncie (and you use the TH400 yoke to boot). Good? When I bought mine, the box said it was "bullet-proof", now I didn't take a gun to it :smash:, but it sure seems like a strong trans (and I ordered the 2.88 first gear ratio).
Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (Cookwithvette)
Cookwithvette,
If you can find NEW t-10 for $400-$500, please let me know! I am interested in a 243 close ratio. I have ahd to rebuild mine twice and I am getting the feeling it may soon need it again. I would perfer to start with new than a rebuild.

Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (bud snyder)
Bud: I'll probably be going to look at them this week. The info I have right now is through a friend so I'm going to verify. I'll snag the info, make, ratios, price, etc... and get back to you.
Re: T-10 or Super T-10 workable on a C3? (Cookwithvette)
cook,
when you look at the Super T-10 count the "rings" on the input shaft, unlike a Muncie this is an absolute way to tell which ratio it has in it.
