So I found out that I can shorten my throw on my shifter by putting the linkage in the bottom hole on the shifter arm, bitchen but if I do that will I have to readjust my linkage, which is something I've never had the occasion to do or see anyone else do it.. thanks!
Easy task. There is a slot or hole at the bottom of the shifter body in the center. With all of the arms on the trans in the center (neutral) position, you just install a rod in the shifter and adjust all of the rod ends so the slip freely into the arms on the trans. Put all the clips back in and done. Make sure the bushings are in good shape.
I found that slot in the trans almost impossible to reach I ordered the "special tool" which turned out to be a very small flat piece of metal. Think I duct taped it to a long screw driver. The procedure is outlined in the shop manual. Might be in the AIM too, not sure.
