The side mirror on my driver's side is loose, both at the door and the mirror itself. Do I have to take the window out to remove the mirror to make the necessary repairs?
No the window does not have to be removed. Put the window all the way down. Remove the door panel. (An allen wrench is needed to remove the
mirror adjusting cable from the bezel on the door panel).
Use some spacers (wooden paint stir sticks work well) to wedge
between the outer door panel and the window glass. This gives you a
bit more room to remove the mirror. 7/16" socket is used to remove the
two nuts that hold the mirror to the door. There is very little clearance
between the door glass and these nuts. I used both a socket mounted to a 1/4" drive breaker bar, as the breaker bar was thinner than a 1/4" ratchet
Once removed, two screws, believe are phillips head, can be tightened. These are reached from under the mirror.
