Over the last week I had time to get the top end replaced on my 80. There is a lot of detail work to under the hood but I got it all installed and tuned in really close. I still have jet issues when I stomp her from a dead idle but I think primary squirter jet size may correct that.
There are a ton of ways to beef up the ZZ4 and thanks to this forum I found them all. And in the end I decided to copy GM because well it is solid and even though this guy and that guy have different heads I just felt all of those heads came after the fast burns and built upon them.
Also and some may disagree but because I do use a O/D trans (700R4) my goal was to get lower end power and good hp numbers at or below 6k because the design of the O/D pumps are about maxed there.
So after some driving around a few burn outs I felt it was time to hit her and run it out in the first 3 gears. I crawled up to a light at about 10mph holding her in low and stomped on it , and holy **** the car broke the tires while pushing hard as hell ran it up to 5700 and banged second and found I was going to fast to hit 3rd with out hitting the traffic I let pass me back at the light !!
To say I was surprised would be an understatement as decent as the ZZ4 was it pales in how hard this motor polls now !
So to everyone who posts up what there doing and answer questions we all ask one another I want to say thanks !~!~!~!~! You all
I started with the Fastburn 385 and did the upgrades to make the ZZ430 clone.
Very happy with the setup, sure there are "better" engines but this is plenty strong for a street driven car.
