Default Vin coding 1975 for color

Can anyone help me with determining what was the original color of a 1975 by looking at the vin #.
I have a vin # 1Z37J5S438288. The vehicle is currently Burgundy. It has been repainted and I'm trying to determine if this was the original color. Couldn't seem to find the right decoding info on my own with web searchs.
Many thanks

VIN won't tell you colour. You get that from the body trim tag. On my '79 I think its inside the drivers door at the front.

Thanks, I'm researching this vehicle to possibly purchase. Any idea where I can find the codes for the body trim tags so when I find the tag I can id the color?

Here are two sites:

http://corvette-world.com/corvette_1...mbinations.php

http://corvetteactioncenter.com/spec...l#.UMU0AKxrTz0

click on 1975 corvette center and you can get some additional info. I have found these sites to be helpful.

I know this may not be a popular question and don't mean to jack the OP's thread but does anyone know where I can get a trim tag made? No I am not looking to give my car options it didn't come with, just feel like something is missing cause it's not there. I am also not going to have the car judged. Ok, I'm going to wait for incoming HE rounds

As stated above, the VIN won't help in color decoding, but one easy way to do this would be to check under emblems. For some reason, many times these are not removed during repaints. Another way would be to remove your trim tag and check the color underneath---IIRC from what I remember on my '73 resto, the car is painted before being tagged. The just re-rivet the tag in place once you're repainted your original color.
