I just installed new window motors in my 80, and the windows creak and groan and the motor seems to labor while raising and somewhat while lowering. Any suggestions as to the greasing procedure, the grease to use etc... And dont you dare say take it all back apart and reinstall greased ;) Thanks in advance, you guys are the greatest
I'm not sure grease will make it any faster. My driver door window all but disappears in an instant with just a touch. The passenger side is slow down and slower up.
However I did just grease and oil both. In my '81, with the door panel off around the door lock pull there is raised panel with about 8 small bolts and to larger bolts. With this off you can to to a central pivot, oh never mind you just put new ones in.
Here is how I greased my tracks. I used a long nail, like an aluminum spike. I put grease on the end and put it in different parts of the track. Then I put just a little 3-in-1 oil at the top of each track.
Also while I had the door panels off I put the foil air bubble insulation on the door panel. A small roll from Lowes was about $16. I also lined the hood. I think my doors and windows are quiter. I know it is much tighter.
