Hi everyone! just got my first Vett. its a 1979 L82 CR 4 speed. the Vett came without a spare tire, could someone advise the correct size to fit the carrier? thanks :smash:
first welcome to the forum  a lot of the vette owners take the spare tire and holder off and just carry around a can of fix a flat :jester atleast thats what i do since mine never came with one either..go to e-bay there always for sale there and there should be a tire size in there add..
I've read warnings here on the forum that you shouldn't run two different size tires (don't know how different) on the back of the car because it could cause problems for the differential.
What size tires do you have?
Do you still have the spare tire carrier?
Do you still have the jack?

Re: spare tire (myl82)
I have a new spare from my '80 that has never been on the ground and a Jack and tire tool/grommet and with the spring to hold it in with. E-Mail me if you are interested. JIM :seeya
Using 2 different size tires on the rear (or front) can cause problems. Smaller spares were designed as space and weight savers for limited use. They are safe and usable to get you short distances at low speeds.
Previous tire sizes mentioned in this post will fit. They will have a slightly higher profile. You do not want to run too far on the different size spare as it does stress the rear end and U-joints. Safety note is that the spare tire is part of the built in crash protection in case you are thinking of removing it.
