Hi, I have a 70 small block with hedders. I currently run my plug wires through a closed rail to keep them away from the pipes. I find that almost everything I need to do requires I take the runners off and that's a pain. It's preventing me from doing other things. I am looking for pictures and descriptions of other mounting options(even stock) to keep my plugs neat, visible, and OFF of the hedders. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
These are homemade brackets to work with MSD wire clips. I made them out of aluminum angle stock. Best method I have seen yet on a SBC. Holds the wires very securely with minimal hardware.
By running the wires down the back of the engine under or inside the headers up to the plugs...gives a clean view of the engine with the wires hidden and out of sight...actually the same as the early Vettes

By running them under the headers, the heat rising from the headers doesn't tend to cook the wires. It takes a little more work to route them under, and probably longer wires, but I think it's well worth the effort. I was able to put my distributor shielding box and side shields back on.
That's the style I use w headers on mine. No trouble to take them off should you need to get under the valve covers, since they're attached w the valve cover bolts anyway.
