Stupid question time. Has anyone had success dropping their Muncie with a Hurst shifter, with the shifter intact (ie, removing the transmission with the shifter on it)? Otherwise, the only way I can see that this is coming apart is to remove the shifter from the shifter mounting plate, then remove the mounting plate. Any help is appreciated!

Unless you have a good reason for keeping the shifter attached (?), make life much easier for yourself and remove the shifter first. I just removed my Hurst to replace it with a GM shifter. Just remove the two bolts that connect the lower trans bracket to the trans mount and pry between the lower trans bracket and the passenger side trans-mount-to-trans-bolt head to move the trans/eng toward the passenger side a little bit to get access to the shifter mounting bolts. I used a small crowbar against the trans support bracket with a rag wrapped around it to keep from damaging my freshly painted bracket.
Thank you! This is what I thought about doing, but wasn't sure that it'd work.
