Default Hooker Side Pipe Insert Question

Have a 350/350 with the hooker headers and pipes. I have not started it yet and had a question about the inserts. Does anyone have good info on these? Have a change to get the glass pack inserts but do not want to choke my motor. Any input if these are a good choice or not. Really not worries about it being loud, just dont want to be shaken out of the car.

Do the max flow inserts, they are only loud when you put your foot to the floor.

The glass packs are restrictive. There are lots of choises. The most popular for best performance are the Hooker Max Flos and the STS Baffles. Noise is subjective and opinions on how loud is too loud will vary. Do a search on this using "baffles". There is lots of reading and your head will spin by the time you're done. This will get you started.

I and "in2fun" swapped out the "Hooker" inserts for the "Sweet Thunder" inserts ...

Whatever you do, don't get the reverse flows. Extreme opposites are the Max Flows, which literally are deafening on my 383: 95db minimum.

That's why I modified them to a smaller diameter through pipe and ceramic sounddeadening material around it. Took done citing and welding, but happy now.

STS baffles have a nice sound and are free flowing.

I am also running Sweet Thunder inserts (2 1/2 in). They sound great but you definitely cannot sneak up on anyone!

Unmodified they are basically a straight tube tapering down to a perforated tube. 413rwhp
