I have a pretty nasty oil leak coming from the back (firewall side) of the intake manifold gasket. I have picked up the popular Felt-pro gasket and am looking to this forum for any advice on performing this project. More specificially pulling components and getting them back on correctly.
Will I need to have any additional gaskets for what I am about to break down? i.e. Carb?
You can pull the carb, but it's really not necessary. It does make cleaning the old gaskets off the manifold a lot easier. The intake gasket set will have both sides, and usually a distributor gasket in it. IT will also have the rubber seals for the ends. I'd recommend NOT using the rubber end seals and laying a fat bead of oxygen sensor compatible RTV. Wipe the ends down with alcohol or something to remove all traces of oil- RTV won't stick to anything with oil on it.
I usually put a light ring of 3M 8001 around the water passages in the heads to stick the side gaskets into position. Other people use different things.
Check your oil pressure sender too- they have been known to leak. And the location makes it look like it could be the rear of the intake.
RTV will seal real nice if u clean the area and apply. Only those being judged at a show would remove the intake for a perfect score. OK And those that would replace a cam and 16 lifters when a lifter clip pops off. (instead of replacing the clip)

To get things back exactly as before the project , use a digital camera or your phone to get pics of vac lines and things so you have a perfect reference guide to putting her all back together
I always like to put the dist. on number one spark plug location before pulling the dist. makes it easier to re install the dist. less of a chance of getting it out of time. Have a ball, Gene

That is the best advice that you can get. Photograph EVERYTHING. My 81 is in pieces right now, and before I touched anything I took photos, even though I have the assembly manual.
Be careful with the bolts, there are several different kinds so document their placement before you take them out.
Also excellent advice on sealing the manifold. That is exactly how I am going to do mine. Putting some sealant on the bolts before you put them back in is not a bad idea either.
