Need help with worm gear in steering box
80 Vette L48 engine automatic trans
I disassembled my steering gear tonight. Upon reading the instructions (AFTER disassembling the steering gear) I noticed they said to pay attention to how the worm gear shaft was located in the box (the box that holds all of the ball bearings). Well of course I didn't pay attention to which way the worm gear went into the worm gear box. Can anyone tell me if there are any indicators as to which direction the worm gear shaft is fitted into the box? The box has the letters R H stamped on one side. Thanks for any assistance. Feel free to criticize for not reading the directions, my wife does all the time.

Thanks. Those are the directions I belatedly consulted. It appears the teeth on the box part slope down so the gears probably won't mesh if I put the worm gear shaft and box in the wrong way. Thanks again.
