Default Rear Speakers

Hi Guys,

looking for any recommendations for a replacement set of Rear Speakers that will fit in my 1978 Pace Car WITHOUT any mods...
I have had the original Radio restored (AM/FM/CB) and replaced the front speakers.
i'd like to keep the original trim/grill and not bolt in one of those speaker enclosures.

I'm not too happy with the quality of the sound....it may be that 1978 sound is crappy, but before I replace the radio, I'd like to replace the rear speakers to be sure...

While I'm asking, any suggestions for a replacement radio that looks original?

Thanks

I believe the stock size is 6x8. The AIM will list the old original GM part number for them or the number might be on the rear of your orignals. I am not sure whether these are being reproduced, but you could check with the aftermarket providers for availability.

The 6x9 in my 82 I purchased from corvette central. They have a good sound for the price. The plastic speaker mounts and clips are the PITA part

make sure you replace them with 10 ohm speakers if you are using the stock deck.
I'm going to try these guys for speakers:

The original speakers are 6x9 but most aftermarket 6x9 speakers won't fit in there. I suspect it might be possible to adapt a smaller speaker (say 4") to fit. I made replacement panels to fit, covered them with some spare carpet, and used the grilles provided with my Pioneer 6x9 speakers.

I have a pair of these that I took out of my 68.
They fit side by side perfect in the back.
They just took up too much room for my taste.
Shipping might be much due to size.
