Default '80 Power Antenna Question

Anyone had much experience troubleshooting a dead power antenna? I just acquired one (mast extended) and would like to repair it if possible to replace the functional aftermarket replacement on my car now. It currently resides on my workbench but I would like to use it.

Probably has a broken nylon "cable" that pushes it up and down.
For what it's worth.....

Buy another one, they are two hard to fix and new ones are not that expensive considering the time and effort to repair the old one.

Open it up. I have. Be carful there is the odd part that will pop off. Once opened up take some pictures so you know where things go. Mine was siezed up due to rust. I took it all apart and cleaned it. I got it working but my nylon cable was also broken.

If memory serves me correct, there ar leads to the motor that you have to be carful not to break. You will pick on this anyway.

If the nylon cable is broken I'm not sure you will be able to find a replacement. I wasn't able to.
