Default 1974 Tire Question re Wheel Width

I am thinking of replacing my current 235-60R/15 tires next spring with the 225-70R/15 size. Those are pretty close to the equivalent of the original GR-70/15. Problem is that the likes of Tire Rack and even local suppliers limit the 225s to a 7.5" rim width?? So with a 8" wheel they may refuse to install them. Anyone run into this before? It does not seem to make sense. Or perhaps it does??

Why don't you go for a set of 245/60's? ...near perfect tire on an 8x15 rim.

Yes, I could do that. But I wish to go back to the original height and width.

225/70s are the "correct" replacement for stock style GR70s...I run these (BFs) on both my Vettes and have had them on a previous Vette and other cars. All were 8" rally wheels with the exception of my 76, which has factory aluminums.

There is no reason for a shop to refuse to install those tires that I can think of.

That's what I thought. But the on-line guides differ. Perhaps I should just drop into the local tire dealer and ask. Note to me: logical answer to myself.
