Default Rear rotor removal help

On my 76, the PO drilled out the rivets, but did not put the rotor back on so the parking brake adjustment holes align with the hub. I have to remove the rotor to rotate it. While I have it off, I am going to rework the PB. I have the caliper off, but can't get the rotor to budge. Any tricks on how to get it off?

I heated the center of the rotor with a MAPP torch and gently tapped each side until it came loose. If you are going to replace the rotor the gentle taps can be big whacks. Did you back off the brake shoe adjusters. You might be able to reach the adjuster through one of the smaller holes. Here is a good thread for your issue: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...no-rivets.html

It just got rusty. Smack the rotor between the studs with a good size hammer- Don't miss and ding the end of a stud. Hit it between the studs in a couple of places. A little shot of your favorite penetrating oil won't hurt. Make sure the park brake is not applied or dragging too.

I was trying to remove it with only one side jacked up. I jacked up the other side and nudged the rotor a little with a rubber hammer as I rotated it and it came right off. Unfortunately I found out what he did when he had it off last. All the park brake parts are gone except the lever and the spring pin on the back side. Time to pull the next parts order together! Is the back pin (passenger side) the PITA to replace?

(There's not much on a Vette parking brake that's NOT a PITA to replace)

Yes the pins can be a hassle. You might have to loosen the backing plate to get the clearance to slip it in.
I'd use the stainless parts from one of the vendors and OEM style shoes.

You never know what Bubba will do next. I removed a rotor once to find the brake shoes placed up on the backing plates and welded on. Nothing there but the shoes welded to the backing plates, both sides. I dont know why he thought they needed to be there.

That is what I just ordered - stainless with OEM shoes.

Welded? Thanks that makes me feel a little better.
