I put a new carpet in a few years ago... at the most 3 years and it is starting to turn red in some spot....for instance, around the transmission tunnel and the rear wall the that seat lay on, but only in the center. Is this because of the heat from the transmission or exhaust, or what? its not really else but there. But why up high on that seat support. anyone else have this problem?
Can I use that interior dye to dye it back to black, or will it just fad again? and possibly cause the dye to kind of burn off and produce a funky smeel? if the dye can be used, what would you suggest?
Thanks in advance!
Chris
Sounds like UV fade to me, if its only in places that the sun hits. I don't know about the dye but I would think it would look better then red/black carpet.
John
Chris you know I had a little of this problem going on too... Believe it or not I found a great spray on dye over at Pep Boys to fix it. ( I figured if it was garbage - I was replacing the carpet anyway) it was like 5 bucks for the can. I'll bring it to the next Challenge if I don't see you before... (are you doing the crab trip this weeked???)
Thanks mike.....you da man. Ill be there at the next CCC and probably the "Show and Go" the saturday before.... you going as well?
