77 door sagging

Default 77 door sagging

Both doors are sagging and want to fix the problem before paint. Anyone got any pics of how to change the pins and bushing on the hinges? Is there anything else I should replace while I'm already in there?

The doors are very heavy, be sure to have a jack underneath with a board to disperse the weight on bottom of door, have someone who will keep it balanced on jack. definitely a two man job

You can do it yourself. I stacked up blocks under the open door and went from there. My pins and bushings came out fairly easily. There probably are some tricks, but it is fairly streight forward. Might be easier to remove 1 hinge at a time to rebuild.

Replacing the bushings should be enough to fix the sag. When you replace the top bushings the fender will interfere with the pin removal. I cut the pin to remove the old one and cut the edge of the head off the replacement pin to clear the fender on installation. You will have to remove parts of your dash to access the interior hinge bolts should you have to adjust them. Hopefully not. The driver side is a PITA .

The bushings will most definitely take care of the issue. I did mine abought 3 months ago on the driver side. I just took the bolts out of the door side hinge and pulled the wiring harness through, used an air hammer to get the old pins and bushings out. I would recommend replacing the spring while it is taken apart. my spring basically fell apart in my hand and then i had to wait for a new one to ship to me. The only real pain I had was trying to line the door back up after it was back on.

IMO you don't want to remove the hinge bolts or you will have to realign the door. But if you do, spray some paint on the bolt heads first. That way when you reattach the hinges there are perfect bolt alignment marks.
