My turn signal/cruise control stalk is severely bent. Fortunately I have procured a replacement part, but I'm not sure if I have to take the steering column apart to replace it. Anyone have any experience with this?
The stalk itself just pulls out of the pivot. However, the wiring goes through the column and isn't the easiest thing in the world to feed through on the car. The easiest way to do this would be to pull the column.
In order to get there, you have to remove the horn cap, wheel, hub and lock plate. You'll need a new lower horn contact retainer as these frequently disintegrate on removal.
You may be able to get by with pulling the old wire out a bit and splicing in to the new wire.
