Dyno Results-comments welcome
The engine was blue-printed when built, balanced, cam degreed, etc. I'd rather run 12's and shift at 5,000 then shift at 7,000 and run 14's. I also don't have to adjust the valves constantly without the solid cam.
My brother in law ported the heads. He's not a pro, but is damn good (also, he works for free).
I'm not a ton off of what I thought I'd have (I expected 300-325 rwhp), but it just came in lower than I thought. I think if I could get the other 700 or so RPM it would be there. I've also got a much fatter torque curve than I expected.
I would not go with a single plane, but something like the Performer RPM would work, you could always paint it Chevy Orange for a stock look ;)
My 383 makes peak power at 6700...
pardon me. i thought stock meant 350 +.030-.060
if 383 is stated on your entry blank, then it is not cheating.
As stingray racing pointed out, it needs a solid cam to rev.
If once a year adjustments are too much effort for you, i have no problem with that.
