Default How do I set distributor adjustable vacuum can advance?

Would you be so kind and help me to adjust and set my vacuum advance on my MSD 8362 distributor, please?

My engine is roller cam 383ci and my manifold vacuum at idle is 12.5HG, with initial mechanical timing of 17* @900RPM and 35* all in @ 2900RPM

I am going to plug my vacuum can directly to manifold vacuum (12.5HG), but am unsure of how to set my vacuum can.

Here is a link to the instruction sheet, but I am little confused with the chart.

Can you help me please?

You can bump up your initial one degree to get 36 degrees at 2900. Then hook up your vacuum can to the vacuum and see how much advanced you get. You want to get 16 degrees with your can. If you have 14, turn the allen wrench counter clockwise until you have 16 degrees. If you are at 18, turn clockwise until you are at 16.

Bottom line is you want 36 degrees between 2500-3000 and a total of 52 degrees.
If you clikc on the "Other" in the red banner above and go into the Tech Tips for C3s, there are timing papers in there that explain it better than I can. Good luck with your car.
