Hello all i just bought my first corvette a 1980 L82 . It has a clear top that does not fit very well . It also has a 3/4 gap at the top of both the windows . Do I have the wrong top or is something missing from the top?

Hi and welcome!
A one piece top is not factory so good luck on that.
For the windows not going up all the way...pull the door panel and check that the window stops are adjusted correctly.
Letter "E" one at the front and another stop at the rear.
It appears to be a Thompson Astro top. I bought one once and as soon as it arrived and I inspected what I bought, I returned it. If the latch system on these tops were better they could be nice. I thought they were built very cheap and did not fit.
looks like the windows need to be adjusted. follow the above advice and start keeping your eyes open for a set of used T tops. gonna run you about a grand....
It's aftermarket. The originals were a pair of t-tops, fiberglass painted body color, or the optional CC1 glass pair. I would not fool with door glass adjustment until you decide whether you are going to keep the aftermarket top.

I'd have a good look at the astro top and decide if its what you want and how well it is ajusted and what weather strips are in it. After owning my 80 since new I have never seen an astro top in person even though I have seen them advertized for 30 years. Back when these cars were new the Tops were the hot item to steal and they were worth a lot. In my local craigs list I see them for $250 each, sometimes sold in pairs and sometimes not. Replaceing the Weather Strips is a real chore, I spent more time doing them that the rest of the car by far and really don't like my install today. I doubt that the former owner drove the car much the way it is now, If you can find him he may have just what you want. T-Top locks are avalable in all the Vendors, and some 82's had em from the factory. Since Your new to the Corvette Forum I'd check out your car to make sure its an L-82, there is lots of info here if you use the search. I would consider a 1980 L-82 a desireble car to own.
