i talked to my mech. today and he said the glass packs he pulled out had about a 1 " pipe surrounded by another pipe that had perferated ends and filled with ???...anyway, he said the sound is nicer and a bit louder, but the power difference is great...this car pulled strong before and in 1st gear on a roll could spin the tires a bit before catching and going...he punched it in 2nd at a 30mph roll and he said it LIT the tires up...i can't wait till the weekend...pray for good weather, i feel a few tanks of gas being used....
I stuck the JCL baffles in my side pipes too. They really are high quality mufflers, I'm sure you will have some fun with your new-found power :reddevil
It's truely a one of a kind experience :yesnod:. It's no L48 that's for sure :D. BTW, I've told you this before but I have to say it again...you have an awesome 'Vette. That is pretty much the 'Vette that I hope to own someday (something about those '69 'Vettes).
thanks a bunch....i'm getting frustrated waiting for the rims i ordered...told now that 1st week of july they might be here....

Just got a sound meter at Radio Shack ($59) and did a little testing with it this afternoon. My L88 with the JCL baffles at idle measured 84db from 15' to the side at belt level, about 75 standing 15' to the rear of the car. My idle speed is set a little fast at 1500rpm. In the car with the windows down it was the same at 2500 rpm and 75 mph. I measured 103 at full throttle going through 1-2 gears at 6500rpm from inside the car. Tests were using the 500-10,000mghz sound range which is supposed to be what the human ear hears. The range I used seems to approximate the actual sound levels as measured in the magazines, at least it was close to my ZO6's published sound levels when I checked it. Actually not much difference in the cabin between the two at cruise. The Z sounds smoother because of a balance tube. Yes, it is considerably louder at full throttle!
I know you and Bence will be pleased with them! Congrats to both of you,
My buddy told me I HAVE to hear my car pulling away (I think he just wants to drive it ;) ). He said it has a really nice mellow sound without meing too loud :) .
chuck...i wonder what my car was like with the old mufflers as far as db's...it would have been interesting to see the difference....
smoked....i know what you mean..especially with the sidepipes.you really hear most of the exhuast coming out of the side right by your ear.i heard my car pulling away for the first time last week when my bro took it with my nephew...what a great sound....
You'll enjoy the power difference, as well as the sound quality improvement! Got 'em in my ZZ502/ 1979. I love 'em.......!
