I'm getting ready to pull my engine out of my 1982 corvette to do some work to it. I was thinking while I have it out I was going to go ahead and put a cam in it but i'm not sure what cam would be the best for it. I wasn't sure if I needed to get a special kind of cam because its a crossfire or what. I was also going to put a shift kit in as well and the only one i've really seen is the B and M shift kit but I was told that B and M is no good does anyone know what i should do?

Be careful on cam selection, computer is very slow compared to the newer cars (80bps) The biggest would be a Comp U Cam 2040. Anything bigger the computer will go nuts unless you upgrade to a Ham board.
For a 700R4 trans I'd go with a Superior or Trans-Go shift kit. IF, when you pull the pan the fluid is good and red and there's not an excessive amount of black goo or metal in it.
It's not that the B&M kit is not any good, it's just way overpriced IMHO.
I put a comp cam XE249H with 1.6 roller rockers. That with Trick Flow heads, Renegade intake, Magnaflow hi-flow cat and 3.73 gears. The rest of the car is stock (e.g. computer and such). Runs great!

i would like to see some one do a renagade intake swap then dyno it to get real numbers.I figure the intake is worth 20-40 hp.The heads may have gave you 40 to 60 hp .with that cam and the 1.6 rollers i would bet on 285-320 hp.thats good numbers on a cross-fire and still get decent gas milage .
I wish there was dyno near me, but I live in a small town of 900 people. Nearest big town with one is in the valley about an hour+ away. And I've never driven the car that far (it now has a whole 28k original miles on it). But it certainly sounds mean, even with the stock mufflers and pipes. And it could now smoke the tires in first and second gear (before it would only smoke the tires if I jumped on the brakes at high speed). By the way, the heads are Trick Flow® Super 23® 175 Cylinder Heads TFS-30300002. I had to go with those because I have to deal with CA emissions. They probably increased the compression to over 10:1.

Very nice .. and yes ... looks completely stock ...... sad to cover up that intake eh ??
We did a few more mods .... but stayed with an engine very much like yours ....
Nice air cleaners. I'm sure it's hard to determine, but did you notice any difference in the installation of them. No air blower, EGR, nice. Even see you have a new radiator. I installed a Dewitts radiator. Capacity is great, no over heating anymore, but that's another subject. Did you install true duel exhaust? Tell me more about the air cleaners.

I loved your idea so much that I bought a used air cleaner and did the same mod. Don't know if it made a differance but it looks cool as hell and factory appearance. And even had several people at show ask me about it. Thanks again!!
Did you do anything to the throttlebody units? All of these will have shaft wear. This in short will give you a vacuum leak, thats the bad news. The good new is there is shop in Indiana called Linder Technical that takes them apart and puts in bushings that will eliminate the problem completely. I sent them my two units and they completely went through them. What they sent back looked like two brand new units.
Very nice work on the upgrades. One note on the custom air cleaners is once you remove the factory housing you also remove the factory cold air intake that is actually quite good once the flap and actuator are removed. The crossfire is an excellent platform once you get to know it. I have Rey successful in gaining both power and decent mileage and wouldn't have anything else.
