Hey everyone. It seems like there is a lot of ZZ4 talk on the forum lately so I decided to create a tech tip on some FAQ's about the engine and the install. As always I probably forgot something but I hope it helps people that want to tackle this job themselves.
Enjoy :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy

Re: ***NEW*** Tech tip on ZZ4's ***NEW*** (theandies)
Nice Job
I wish I had this kind of information when I installed my ZZ4 almost 4 years ago. Back then there was not much ZZ4/Corvette swap information available. I had to work out the water pump problem on my own by using my stock pump. This required milling down the bolts which hold the back cover on the pump and grinding down one timing cover bolt and slotting it. I also did not want to break the timing cover seal yet. I have since replaced all top end components and now use a standard (non composite) timing cover. Wish I would have bought a two-piece unit now though.
Although I knew I would have to buy a flywheel, I went with the 153 tooth because the flexplate that came with the ZZ4 was 153 tooth. This reguired me to buy a mini high torque starter. From what I know now, it looks like If I would have bought a 168 tooth flywheel then I could have used my old starter and used 11" clutch instead of 10.5".
