Re: Carpet installation easy or hard? (Vettedriver1975)
Easy. The hardest part is around the trays behind the seats. If you want to change the carpet on the trays, I suggest you buy them pre-assembled. Make sure you get an AIM manual. It shows where you need to make the small cuts for replacing the carpet. Also, make sure you put heat reflective matting below the carpet with the metal side to the floorboard. Do not put the matting around the gas pedal. You will want to floor the pedal for fun. I also used 3M adhesive for the matting. You can also join the matting together along any seams by using aluminum duct tape. Good luck. Work slow. Try out the pieces before glueing them in.
Re: Carpet installation easy or hard? (Vettedriver1975)
Not a bad job at all, I just put all new carpet in my 69 this weekend and the hardest part was on the sides behind the seats. Actually it was not hard at all. Suggestion: Allow the carpet to set out in the sun for a while and I let it set in the car for 2-3 hours and it took the shape really well...
Re: Carpet installation easy or hard? (Vettedriver1975)
As most Vette owners can attest, no job regardless to how easy and simple outwards appearence deceives, the moment you touch one thing, multiple other (things) pop up. My simple carpet job led to a total interior overhaul which included rebuilding steering column, seats, dash, wiring, windshield, window motors....etc....Wish ya luck...
No it is Easy .....Just need a
Carpet knife to cut and some 3m spray glue
well - you will also need some wrenches and screwdrivers to remove the seats and the still plates. However - changing the carpet is one of the easiest things!!
Now that makes sense. The carpet in my 77 is very old, I think original but am sure it was removed once. I keep getting a lot, I mean a lot of lfoor heat and thought the heat pad was in correctly all this time-not knowing better. The shiny side is up, insulation is next to the floor board. Is there anything else I can do to reduce heat?
Thanks,
Bill
