I'm trying to burn out the lower control arm bushings on my C3, as I've read in several forum posts. I tried lighting them with a propane torch...they'd burn for a minute or two, then fizzle out. I tried dousing them with liquid wrench, then lighting them, same thing. Do I have magical, fireproof bushings, or am I missing something?

Here's what I did on my 80' worked great, went to auto zone and use the loaner tool deal "bushing press" came with several different fittings, pressed old ones out and new one's in...went really smooth.
it is amazing to me how many ways there are to do a job.i put a 14'' pipe wrench on the outer lip and unscrewed them.i know they are not threaded but they came out regardless.
