The ZZ4 cam is very mild so it should work fine with the E4M.

That's what I was thinking, and with the stock intake you can probably use the stock air cleaner. I'm just wondering if the stock intake will hurt the performance. the carb will probably have to be re jetted also.

It is not an Edelbrock 2101, but it will behave very similarly.

FWIW, the stock intake, edel 3701 (closest thing Edelbrock offers to a stock intake) and the ZZ4 dual plane are all different manifolds.

Original QJet intakes have very obvious carb pads, with 4 ports to match the QJet.

Performance wise, they're all pretty close to each other.

BTW, qwank, I'm running a ZZ4 intake on my 78 with the Q-Jet. Works fine.

That looks great Shark Racer!! That's the exact look I want. Stock but with a little extra you can't see. Very nice

I just haven't seen anyone do it with a stock computer yet.

Only one way to find out... I don't think the computer does much other than try to keep the cruise metering at stoich in those cars. You'll likely need to play with the secondary metering rods a bit and adjust the idle.

How about one step further, opinions on a ZZ383 with stock intake/carb? How much would it hurt the performance?

What about stock intake with non computer controlled carb/distributor?

The ZZ383 uses vortec style fast burn heads. So if you want to run that setup with a Q-Jet, you'll need Edelbrock 2116 or GM 12496820.

The description says you'll lose 15-25 hp, which I don't doubt. With the low rise you may pick up a little bit of off-idle and mid range torque, however.

Oh jeez... I knew the stock intake wouldn't bolt to the heads.

good to know there's an itake that may clear the stock air cleaner though.

I wouldn't mind losing some top end for so low and mid range power though.

BTW I forgot to mention this but I think the cam is at the point where you might start running into issues with an E4M. You may wanna scope out thirdgen dot org (a Camaro forum), there are a lot of people tweaking with the E4Ms there.
