paint and upholstery codes
The paint is a dark blue and the interior is fairly dark blue cloth. Thanks for the help.
There was originally a build sheet, glued to the top of the gas tank. The tank sticker will list the original colors also. You can peak in through the fuel filler hole in your rear deck, to see if it's still there. Pull the fuel filler rubber boot out of the way, and look around the top of the tank, with a flashlight. If it is still there, you'll be able to see it, but probably not read it. To read or remove it, you'll have to drop the tank, but at least you'll know where to access the info.
There is one other possible way to identify the original colors, of your car. If your 81 was built at the Bowling Green KY plant, you can buy a copy of your car's window sticker and build sheet, through the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. To determine where your car was built, check the VIN. If the eleventh digit of your VIN, is a "5", then you have a Bowling Green car, and can get your window sticker. An "S", as the eleventh digit, indicates that your car was built in St. Louis, and the information is not available from GM.
Below is a Bowling Green trim tag. The information on a St. Louis trim tag has a slightly different appearance, but the tag and it's location, are the same.
Couldn't see a build sheet but didn't want to mess with the rubber around the filler cap. The plant code is S so it was built in St Louis.
Thanks for this help. I'm to do some restoration and colors are key.
