Recently put new TT11's mounted on same take off tires. Backspacing is good, no problems front or rear. However the right front tire rubs the front fender at the bottom when wheel is turned full right. Left side is perfect. It appears the right fender height is off by about 3/4 in (lower) than the left. Any ideas on how to get the right front to clear or should I consider buying different size tires for the front? Kind of hate to do that since the Radial TA's ( 225x70 ) have less than 1000 miles on them. What are your thoughts guys?
This is just a shot in the dark, but maybe you could try adding some shims to the front center frame extension nose cushion. Lifting the nose slightly might give you the clearance that you need. Just makes sure it doesn't cause problems with hood or door gaps.
It is hitting the rear of the right fender when you turn right full lock ?? Any chance that body mount is bad on pass side behind the side cover .... Or was this car hit on the right side at some point in its life ?
225x70's are stock tires. Fixing the real problem is probably a better solution than changing the tire size. Since this started with the new wheels and tires what were the old ones?
The tire is hitting the very front of the right fender at full lock. I am the 2nd owner and the original owner said it had never been hit. I will look at the body mount tonight. Thanks for the info diehrd.
my 76...the old wheels were the original stock ones and the tires were not replaced. i have Radial TA,s with less than 1000 miles on them. I never had any issue with the old set up
A broken or sagged spring will allow the suspension to droop on that corner. Measure the height of the lower control arm bushing bolts on each side, and compare them left to right..

The backspace is supposed to be 4 1/2 just like the factory wheels. I measured the inside of the wheel clearance from the spring bolts on the old set up and the new set up is the same measurment so I assumed the front would be ok too as the distance from the inside to the ball joints looked very close.
gcusmano.....if they are different lengths can they be adjusted to correct the sag? Don't mean to sound stupid but suspension is not my best area of knowledge. But if the spring is sagging and adjustment is not possible would a rubber 1in spacer in the spring be a short term possibility?
If I used 1/2 in spacers wouldn't that set the wheel out farther? The problem is the tire diameter interferring with the front edge of fender. The left side clears ok.
