Default New Track Times

I went to the track this morning for some test and tune. It was REALLY hot out there. We were racing about noon in the hottest part of the day.

Anyways, here's my times. I was really hoping to get lower 12's, but maybe I can tune my car better before next time.

This pass was my first and fastest.

60' 1.738
1/8 7.94
1/4 12.51
MPH 107.12

What do you guys think? Keep in mind it's just a daily driver, so it can't be toow wild.

Did you run at State Capitol or at No Problem?

We actually went to a little-known track in Eunice for some secretive testing. It's way out in the sticks. Some of my friends were trying to dial in their new combinations, and they didn't want anybody to know how fast they are.

I really hope I can get my car at least in the 12.3s before I pull the motor.

Excellant times for hot weather, Real good 60'. Should do even better in winter temps. I'd be real happy if I were you.

I'm happy with my times, but I've just been running 12.6s for several months. The 12.5 felt good, but I know there's more in it. A cool night would help me considerably. You see, I ran 12.6s with 3.36 gears and Eagle GT IIs on back. I've since added drag radial, 4.11s, electric fans, and dropped my spare tire and carrier. I figured I would go a bit faster. Oh well, I'm not through trying yet.

I'm planning a 406 sbc for the vette. I hope to start building real soon, and it should be in the 550hp range. That should be enough to make me a solid second faster. Mid 11's in a daily driver would be fast!!

Nice times. I need to get a set of drag radials after seeing your times.

Jay, those times are awesome. I was at that same track on a couple of weeks ago on the 26th. My best time was a 13.69 with a .7 reaction time and major spinnage of the line but a top speed of 106, so I know I can be in the 12's. That was my first day at the track, so I learned alot and looking forward to next time. I'll be joining a local club soon so I know they go to some of the better tracks around here sometimes. Maybe we will meet at the track one day. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the nice words guys. I'm getting the itch to start building my new motor to really go after some of the faster guys. I want to go 11's so bad.

Gordonm- I really like the drag radials, but I only bought the because I had to get new tires anyway. I used to pull 1.77 sixty-foots with my 3.36 gears and 235/60/15 Eagle GT IIs. You just have to practice your launches alot. I also normally do John Force style burnouts. Everybody told me big burnouts were a waste on street tires, but it worked for me.

Joey- Yeah, I'm sure I'll meet you at the track sometime. Our MPHs are very close. It would be a heck of a street race!
