Rebuilding a power antenna
I'm in the process of rebuilding my power antenna. I have the unit apart and hit a stumbling block. The instructions indicate that I take off the finial (the little **** at the top) and then pull the cable and top mast section out from the bottom. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, if the cable broke off (which is why most of them don't work any more), how in the heck does one get to the broken end to pull it out? I have tried everything I know to do and get the end to start out the bottom of the mast so I can grab it. The whole mast will collapse a couple of inches then then I can hear and feel the end catching somewhere near the bottom and won't come out the base. I can see the lower end of the metal mast but no plastic cable is sticking through. I hate to trash an original antenna. Ideas?
