Hi Guys:
I have a 79 c3 original except for the radio. I installed a kenwood radio with the Bluetooth and the I phone and the mp3. Installed Infinity speakers.
I installed an additional fuse block with power all the time and powered the radio, I ran a ACC wire from the original fuse block to the radio.
Now for the problem; the radio seems to reset when in idle but works perfectly when in motion. I tried different Acc locations but problem persists, I even tried not stopping at red lights but I got some objections from the police, apparently listening to music is not an emergency, go figure.
I was considering adding a big capacitor to the line or using a relay to create my own ACC power but I would prefer a less invasive approach to the problem.
Any suggestions???
I had the same problem with a Pioneer radio. When the voltage is too low at idle the radio shuts down. There is a lot of resistance in our older vehicle electrical circuits; ignition switch, fuse block, etc. I ran a wire direct from the battery circuit with a fuse and used a relay to activate it with the ignition. That way you are getting higher, constant voltage to the radio at all times.
Thanks
I thought it was something long that line. Correct me, since the relay will remain active at a lower voltage I shouldn't have any problem. right?
