I was wondering if I should have this done. My inside is good and my motor will be like new within a few weeks. Do you guys know anyone who does this and some est costs. I want to keep the 78 until I die so I would like for it to be right. Check out my site for some pic that might give more info.
I agree that to hire a frame off done could run you $20,000+. If you want to spend that kind of cash, great! The hard part would be finding a shop that knows what they're doing. Maybe you should talk with sdixon here on the forum. He started a shop recently and might be the kind of place you're looking for. Let us know what you do.
Yeah Since basically all she needs is the paint, I don't think that I would want to spend that much money. As soon as I figure out if I am going to stay in T town or not, I want to buy a house and that money would go along way on one.

When you hear the price of a pro frame off you will die. Sounds like your vette is solid now. If you want it to last for ever follow these steps and there is no need for you to do a frame off. 1) keep all items in good repair. 2) park the vette in a Garage. 3) Power wash and oil spray every year. That is it enjoy
Money here, money there :mad
Money rules the world
Wanna know what I think about that?
That´s exactly the reason why it´s nearly impossible to find a perfect mid year C3 (74,75,76,.....)
I´ll tell you something. I really don´t know how much money I spent on my frame off, and believe me I don´t really wanna know that.
If you like the car and you plan to keep it for life, make your own decision and don´t give anything on others opinion about the value.
When my vette is done, it will be brand new, and I don´t have to worry about problems like rust, electrical problems and so on..
Further more it will be one of very few C3s which are fully restored.
I like the idea to have a unique car ;)
I am with Markus on this one....Looking awesome Markus :yesnod:
Our cars seem to be going to the wayside. I chose not to have to work on mine all the time and repair and know exactly what I have while upgrading to some new technology at the same time. I did the work myself and it has been 2 years in the progress and coming to a finish. I will have a new vehicle dressed in the C-3 skin that will be around for a long long time...I hope to enjoy this car with many miles of hassle free enjoyment. Know what you want and go for that.I am just a car gearhead that loves Corvettes and muscle cars

I'm with the frame off crowd. If you want a new C3 and plan to keep it a long time, might as well do it once and do it right. After a frame off, general maintenance and detailing would be fun, not to mention the looks and compliments you'll get at shows, parades etc.
My body is going to be removed and all of the systems will be rebuilt or replaced with new parts, I'm sure I'll put $25,000 or more into it, but I'm not doing it to sell it, I'm doing it because I've wanted a complete custom show Corvette since gradeschool . . . sure wish I made the kind of money Merlin does. Now that man is having a lot of fun and that's what it's all about.
I ran across a Corvette restoration sop in Talladega recently. They were advertising in the "Corvette Trader". You may want to look them up in the Yellow Pages or on the net. I dont reacall the name, sorry. Good luck.
