OK, I got a scrap dash from another '72, the vinyl was trash, so I let it sit in the Florida 95f sun and it peeled off nicely, well fairly nice anyway...
SO, the underlying foam was very pourous and full of holes where sunlight has baked it apart from being cracked on the surface....
so how/what do I do to fill in/level out the foam surface to then hopefully recover it to factory perfection with a new 'skin'....or maybe another piece of vinyl for a non stock recover???? any suggestions????
BTW the speakers will get NON STOCK grills that show up...so that perforation is not an issue....any ideas???
Yeh, I looked at the Eastwood stuff there, and it looks/says it's hard enough to sand, and that would be too stiff for dash padding, would probably work though, maybe it would also have problems in the heat with showing through the new skin....sun down here in Florida gets mighty intense/hot does strange things...
I might try a local rubber supply house here though, maybe they have something...
