Default HELP! 82 Fuel pump replacement

I decided to do the 85 fuel pump upgrade on my 82 and have the old pump out but the electrical connections is what I'm not sure about?? The 85 uses a electrical plug and the 82 has eyelits to fit over studs with nuts. The 85 has the studs but are capped?? What do I do??

Also while it's out I was trying to check the resistance on the float and tried different methods but didn't work so what is the correct way in doing so?? My fuel gauge is showing a little under a 1/4 and when looked in the tank it looks to be about a 1/3 full.

Does your connector look like any of these? http://www.haywireinc.com/index.cfm/...=cat/cat22.htm
Why don't you just upgrade the pump you have?

No, I found out that my kit was suppose to come with the wiring pigtail which it did not.

The missing wiring kit is your problem.

The float issue is another thing. Use a fish line. You can pull the float up and down, bend adjust until you get it right. Some times no mater what you won't get it right. Tanks have a bladder in them that lifts and will always get in the way.

Remember the tank is deeper at the rear. So looking a third full maybe alright.

Its a bit of a pain putting the assemble in and out. so run the fish line around the float and bring both ends up out of the tank. That way when it test right you can just let go of one end of the fish line and pull it all out. Don't tie it to anything.
