I had my exhaust manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets changed and now I have an engine noise that doesnt go away until I hit 40mph. Any clues?

Is it a ticking noise? or ?It could just be a exhaust leak from the exhaust. usually after 50 miles or so you need to go back and check the torque on the manifold bolts..Usually, they will need snugged back down from the heat expansion..

Ok. I'll snug the bolts down next week and see if I notice a difference.

Ticking can be a lifter issue, etc., but it can also be an exhaust leak as noted...sometimes a very small leak will sound like a tick.

Honestly I've used a piece of garden hose as a stethoscope before to find an exhaust leak, couple of feet long, one end in ear and the other poking around...found my leak in about 30 seconds after at least two mechanics had missed it. Kind of hilarious, but works.
