Default Removing Speedometer Cable

I have a 69' Roadster in which I would like to remove and clean the inner drive cable from the Speedometer. I just took a quick look under the dash and it looks like I need to remove a fare amount of equipment to get at it. Has anyone done this and can you tell me if it is a lot of work, or is there an easy way to do it? Thanks is advance.

If it's like my 1980, and I think it is, it's easy to remove. First I had to remove the lower A/C duct and push a few wires to the side. There is a C clip on the back of the speedo that holds the cable on (I was able to lie on my back and look up under the dash with a flashlight to see it). Push the metal clip in and at the same time pull off the cable. Then carefully bend the cable down toward the floor. You should be able to pull out the inner cable to service it.

On my '70 I needed to remove the lower steering column trim, drop the column down a few inches by removing the 2 bolts which go up vertically and hold the column in place. I also loosened the 2 on the firewall near the pedals. Then I removed the screws which go sideways into the driver dash from the center bezel. I also removed the screws from the face into the top dash panel and the face gague cluster panel. Then in a warm garage, I simulatneously lifted up on the top dash pad and gently pulled the top of the gague cluster forward. I could then get my arm in over the top of the dash to the back of the gauges. I tried several times by removing AC ducts etc from underneath, but was unable to wedge my arm in from underneath. I have heard where folks have been able to do that though. Guess I wasn't that lucky.
