Default Steering column play

Hello everyone!

I'm a new member and already have a tech question. My 72 T-Top has power steering and the Tilt-Tele column. We had the column rebuilt last year. After installing the column (before connecting to the rag joint) I noticed that there is about 1/8 inch side to side play where the lower bearing is held in place by the retainer and clip at the bottom of the column The bearing and retainer move inside the column housing. .

The parts diagram shows no support bearings between the lower bearing and the yolk/u joint up the shaft. Is this amount of play normal?

I'd like to put a Steeroids kit on the Vette but fear this kind of play would be amplified by it thus resulting in a huge dead zone...

Any advice will be highly appreciated

I am also in the process of installing a Steeroids kit and they recommend replacing the lower bearing on thier site.

Default hi

Funny thing is, all the bearing parts are new, the clip, retainer, bearing, adapter.
