Can anyone give me some pointers on locating frame damage? I have a 78 which was hit in the left front. I have the front clip off and I want to straighten the frame before putting on the new nose. Right front wheel is definitely moved toward the right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
While the exact measurements for each portion can be found in the assembly guide, I would take it to a reputable body shop that specializes in this sort of thing. It's too important to screw up, and I don't think it's the sort of thing anyone but a specialist can correctly address. My 2cents!
I think you will find the frame is nearly impossible to straighten out correctly due to it being a full boxed frame, if it's hit hard enough....and from what you said, moving the RIGHT front wheel off to the RIGHT, that means it was hit hard enough on the left to bend the right frame rail off to the right?? sounds like it's had it....
might be adviseable to just pull the body off and section the frame, and or replace the entire frame....check rear for rust.....
I have seen enough with problems on severe hits in front on those frames....they don't take kindly to pulling/straightening....super hard to do a decent job....
